At least once a year, our Program Director, Erin Slagle, organizes a clothing, toy and/or food drive for a local charitable organization such as S.O.M.E. (So Other Might Eat).
Details on this year's effort are below:
The Joy of Giving
The Holidays are (almost!) here. The coming weeks will be filled with family, friends, food and celebrations. It’s important that we try to enjoy every moment because 2015 will be here before we know it! It’s also important that we remember what the holidays are really about, and that we teach our children of the significance and joy in givingas well as receiving.
For the past 4 years RSCC has held a food and clothing donation drive for the organization S.O.M.E. (So Others Might Eat), and with the help and support of our wonderful families we have had an incredible turnout all four years. This year we will carry on the tradition in the hopes that our wonderful School will once again come together as community and help those in need.
From Monday, December 1st-Friday, December 19th we will be collecting food and clothing in boxes outside of the Teacher’s Lounge. S.O.M.E. will accept new and/or gently used clothing that is “laundered and free of tears or stains.” The greatest need right now is for men’s clothing (coats, jackets, jeans, shoes, boots, underwear and socks) but obviously all clothing can be used and would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, S.O.M.E. accepts any non-perishable food items and their “wish list” includes ground coffee, cold cereal, canned meats and tuna.
Please know that participation in this drive is not mandatory nor is there a minimum amount that can be given. Our goal is simply to demonstrate to our children the significance of helping others as well as the power in working together.
Thank you all so much, and Happy Everything to Everyone!
